Print Craft Templates at the Intended Size
Choose the correct paper file, check scaling with a ruler, and fix clipped edges before cutting into your project paper.
A template printed a little too small can look perfectly tidy until the finished piece no longer fits. Treat the first print as a measurement check. Match the file to your paper, inspect the print preview, and compare a known line with a ruler before cutting. This matters for a fitted tag or bookmark even when a planner would remain usable at several sizes.
Choose the file that matches the paper
Suzfy’s printable collection provides separate A4 and US Letter SVG files and print views. A4 measures 210 by 297 mm. US Letter measures 215.9 by 279.4 mm, equivalent to 8.5 by 11 inches. They are different shapes, so simply choosing “fit” does not preserve the intended dimensions when one is substituted for the other.
Check the paper loaded in the printer and the paper selected in its settings. Then open the corresponding version of the template. The SVG files specify their physical width and height, but printing applications and printer drivers can still scale them. The check line is there to verify the result on paper.
Start with the print view
The collection’s print-view link opens a simple page with the chosen sheet and a Print button. Its print layout requests the matching page size and removes the website navigation. Your browser’s print dialog and printer driver remain in control of the final output, so confirm their settings rather than assuming that the page request overrides them.
Select the intended paper and portrait orientation. Look for a scale setting such as 100% or actual size where your application provides it. Avoid “fit to printable area” when exact dimensions matter. Turn off browser headers and footers if they add dates or addresses around the sheet, and check that only the intended sheet is included in the preview.
Use the downloaded SVG when you need more control
An SVG is a vector drawing, rather than a fixed-resolution photograph. You can download a file and open it in an application that supports SVG printing and physical page dimensions. Keep its original page size. If your application offers import options, verify that it has not changed the document into a generic page or resized the artwork to fill the window.
Print a plain-paper sample before using special stock. A printer may not accept every thickness or surface finish; follow the printer and paper manufacturer’s instructions for supported materials and loading. A template does not establish that a particular card or coated sheet is suitable for your printer.
Measure the 50 mm check line
Every Suzfy sheet includes a line with end marks labeled 50 mm. Measure between the two end marks, rather than measuring the label or the full thickness of the stroke. Compare in good light with a ruler whose zero point is clear.
| Printed measurement | What it suggests | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| 50 mm | The measured direction is at the intended scale | Check a template edge and that nothing is clipped |
| 47.5 mm | The output is about 95% of intended size | Look for an automatic fit or reduction setting |
| 52.5 mm | The output is about 105% of intended size | Look for enlargement or a changed document size |
The calculation is printed length divided by intended length. For example, 47.5 divided by 50 equals 0.95. This describes the observed scale; it does not mean you should immediately add an opposing percentage in another setting. Correct the mismatched page or scale setting first so two hidden adjustments do not fight each other.
Check both size and placement
A correct horizontal check line does not prove that the whole sheet printed correctly. Measure one vertical edge of a tag or bookmark too. Check the first and last rows for missing outlines. The tags are 50 by 80 mm and the bookmarks are 50 by 150 mm at the intended scale.
If a page edge is clipped at 100%, your printer’s unprintable border or the application’s margins may be involved. Review the preview and print settings. You can use an SVG application to reposition the artwork without resizing it, provided every piece remains on the selected page. Do not cut an incomplete outline and assume the missing part was unimportant.
Distinguish cut lines from guides
On Suzfy’s tag and bookmark sheets, the solid outside outlines identify the pieces to cut. Interior labels, decorative marks, and writing lines stay inside the project. The weekly planner is a full sheet and does not need to be cut along its internal row lines.
Read the tag instructions before cutting a batch. A piece’s final dimensions do not include extra material for mounting onto another card. If you want a larger border, draw that separately on the backing material and compare the fit before attaching it.
Keep one verified sample
When the scale and placement are correct, mark the sample with the file format, application, and paper size. Keep it near your project materials for the current session. Printer settings can change between devices or print jobs, so recheck a fresh sample when something has changed.
For an undated planning page, you may choose a smaller scale intentionally. The guide to making a weekly paper planner focuses on writing space rather than a fitted final object. Record the choice so you can repeat it. The useful distinction is between a size you selected and a size the printer chose without you noticing.
